How to Change a Video From WMV to AVI
AVI, which stands for Audio Video Interleave, is a video container format that was developed by Microsoft in 1992 in an attempt to compete with Apple's QuickTime container format. WMV, which stands for Windows Media Video, is the video container format that was developed by Microsoft to replace the AVI format. One of the main advantages of AVI over WMV is the cross-platform compatibility. Fortunately, it is relatively easy to convert a file from one container format to the other, but to do so you need a video converter program. Video converter programs are widely available for purchase in hard copy and download. Depending on the size and length of the file, the conversion process can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours.
