Instructions for Sarees
A sari is a sort of seamless fabric sheet worn in traditional Indian culture. You can wear a sari over a bathing suit during the summertime or as a cool-weather cover-up. Saris also make excellent long, flowing scarves. Knowing how to make saris, or sarees, isn't difficult because no sewing is necessary. You can create your own saris at home regardless of your level of crafting ability.

1
Choose any type of fabric you desire for your homemade sarees. Measure and cut a segment of fabric from the roll measuring anywhere from 6 to 9 feet in length. The width of the fabric segment can be as wide as you want. This is what makes a sari, or saree, completely customizable. Some are as wide as 5 feet and some are as narrow as 1 foot.
-
2
Spread the fabric segment out in front of you evenly, with the print or bold side of the fabric facing downward. The light-colored underside of the fabric should face up at you.

3
Plug the iron in and allow it to heat up for five minutes.
-
4
Squeeze a line of fabric glue along all four edges of the segment of fabric. A thin, 1/4-inch line of glue is adequate.
-
5
Fold all four edges of the fabric in by 1/2 inch. This encases the glued edge.
-
6
Use the standard press setting on your clothes iron and press along the folded edges of the fabric. This further sets the glued edge, creating a hemmed seam along all edges without needing a needle and thread.

Tips & Warnings
Embellish your homemade sarees as you see fit. You can keep them simple in design or affix gems and other adornments to them to create formal pieces.
