How to Remove Free Apps on an iPod Touch

  • Print this article

Apple's iPod touch portable media player gives you the ability to download a variety of applications from the App Store using the iPod's Wi-Fi connection. Many of these apps can be downloaded free. In addition, developers often release free, "light" versions of paid apps. If you find that you've cluttered your iPod touch with too many free apps, you can remove them from the home screen without having to connect the device to a Wi-Fi network.

Instructions

    • 1

Tap the icon for the free app that you want to remove and hold it down until all of the icons on the screen start to jiggle.

    • 2

Tap the "X" that appears in the upper left corner of the icon.

    • 3

Tap "Delete" button to confirm that you want to remove the app. Repeat to delete additional apps one by one.

Tips & Warnings

  • The same method used to delete free apps can be used to remove paid apps. If you delete an iPhone app you have purchased, you can download it again from the App Store free of charge.

  • If you delete an app that has been synced with your iTunes library, it may be reinstalled on your iPod the next time you sync the device. To prevent this, delete the app from your iTunes library before you sync the iPod touch.
