How to Use an iPod With Multiple Libraries

How to Use an iPod With Multiple Libraries thumbnail
Using multiple libraries opens up your options for your iPod.

Your iPod's default setting is to sync to a single computer's music library, and this may be the only way you've ever used it. Owning or regularly using multiple computers can make this too limiting. Apple has a setting available for your iPod to use multiple libraries that you can access through a connection to iTunes on a computer. Feel free to begin this process while connecting to a new library. As always, follow all applicable rules about copyrights when using music.

Turn on iTunes and if you normally sync with this computer, click "iTunes," "Preferences," and check "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically."

Plug your iPod into the computer and when it shows up in the left bar of iTunes, click on it and choose "Summary."
