How to Donate School Books
Children in low-income areas or who live in third world countries may not have access to the school books that they need. In many areas, teachers must spend their own money to buy supplies and the necessary books if the children are to have them at all. If you are able to donate books and other school supplies to these children, you are making an investment in their education and helping a teacher give her students what they need to succeed in school.

1
Contact the teachers at your local schools to see if they need help purchasing school supplies or books. Even if they do not, they may be able to refer you to a nearby district that is struggling to provide books to the children.
-
2
Sign up with an online registry that matches teachers in needy districts with donors willing to supply them with the necessary books and supplies. One such registry is at the I Love Schools website, and another is at Global Book Exchange.

3
Send a donation to an organization that sends books to Africa or other areas of the world where children need textbooks. You may also be able to send the books yourself, but shipping costs may make this a more expensive option. One organization that can help is Books for Africa.

4
Donate books that you already have to your local thrift shop or Goodwill if you cannot find a teacher or school district that needs them. They can sell the books to consumers and can use the money from the donated books in their charitable programs.
