How to Dip Marshmallows in Melted Chocolate

The sweet, sticky taste of a marshmallow is only improved by the addition of chocolate. A chocolate fondue makes a tasty dipping fondue for a sweet treat, and it is simple to make. However, if you don't properly melt the chocolate or dip the marshmallows in a certain manner, the results are not always pleasing. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • Waxed paper

      Place 2 oz. of chocolate chips or chunks in a bowl. Choose a variety you like, such as semi-sweet, milk or dark.

      Set the bowl in the microwave and heat the chocolate for 30 seconds at a time, or less, until the chocolate is just melted.

      Lay out a piece of waxed paper on your counter top.

      Dip one end of each marshmallow into the melted chocolate until that end is covered completely. Lift out the marshmallow and allow the excess to drip off.

      Set the undipped end on top of the wax paper to dry.

      Serve immediately or place in a sealed, plastic container. Place the container in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes to firm up.

Tips & Warnings

  • Instead of using the microwave, heat the chocolate slowly on the stove top until the sauce is smooth.

  • Try adding butter, cream and milk to the chocolate mixture for a creamier consistency.

  • Toast marshmallows over a fire first and dip into the melted chocolate for a different flavor.
