How to Recover a Word Template
The default global template file in Microsoft Word, known as "normal.dot," is required for Microsoft Word to function correctly. If the template file is corrupted, a fix or recovery of the template file will be required if you would like to use Microsoft Word. The most effective way to achieve this is to delete the corrupted template file, after which you can launch Microsoft Word. A new template file will be automatically created.

Search for the file "Normal.dot." Open the Windows "Start" menu and type "Normal.dot" in the text field labelled "Search programs and files."

Delete the file. Right-click on the "normal.dot" file and click the "Delete" option to delete the file.

Launch Microsoft Word. Once the program has opened, a new template file will be created.
