Keeping up-to-date with what people are talking about can help shape your marketing plan.

According to Twitter, Trending Topics can help users stay on top of the "most breaking" things being talked about on Twitter right at this moment. While the menu to the right of your Twitter news feed typically shows the top ten "Trends" for the present moment, you can also use a Twitter listing to check out the hottest trends from the past week, as well as the trends from various parts of the world.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the "What The Trend" web page. In the body of the site, you'll see the top ten Trends for the day listed, as well as the No.1 trending topic from a number of countries around the world.

    • 2

Scroll midway down the "What the Trend" page to view the "See Trends by Location" subheading. Click on the country or city of your choice to view the top ten trends for that location.

    • 3

Navigate back to the "What the Trend" page. At the top of the page, click "Week in Review/Reports." You'll be directed to a page with the top 20 Trends for the week, including a detailed description of the trend, the trend's intensity and subtrends that have followed.

Log in to your Twitter account. In the main page search box, type in "@wtt" -- this will direct you to "What The Trend's" Twitter feed. Click "Follow" on WTT's profile page to get regular tweets about the latest trending topics.
