How to Lock an Image From Copying and Editing Using Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Photoshop layers give users control over which layers are modified during the creation of a Photoshop image. Contemporary Adobe Photoshop technicians simply lock and hide their digital layers as they work. Any image that sits within a Photoshop layer may be locked or turned on and off -- so controlling the copying and editing of images is a simple process.

Open or create a Photoshop document that contains multiple layers. Choose "File" and "Open" then browse to its location. Click "OK" to begin the process of locking and hiding a layer.

Navigate to "Window" and select "Layers" to view the separate layers The "Layer Palette" box will appear.

Identify the layer that contains the image you do not want to copy or edit.

Lock the image's layer to prevent editing it. To lock a layer in Photoshop, click on the "Lock All" icon, within the "Layers Palette." Photoshop's lock image icon looks like a tiny lock.

Click on the eye icon to toggle a layer on and off. Hide the layer to avoid copying it. An image that's not in clear view cannot be copied in Photoshop. You may also use quick keys to hide the layer. Mac users hold down the "Option" key and click. Windows users may press the "Alt" key and click to hide a Photoshop layer.

Begin copying and editing the Photoshop file. The locked and hidden layers will not change or be copied.
