How to Find Records of a Baptism & First Communion
Baptism records and first Communion records prove to a priest that you have participated in the holy sacraments. People who wish to participate in Confirmation or the holy sacrament of marriage need this proof in order to be allowed to present themselves to the church for these religious rituals. If you do not have access to a copy of your baptism records and do have it in writing that you went to first Communion, you can find copies of these documents from other sources.

1
Examine your personal records and see if you have a copy of your baptism certificate in your baby book, family Bible or other paperwork. If you have a copy of your original baptism certificate, you will know the information that you need to get a new copy.
-
2
Contact the church where your parents and the priest performed the sacrament of baptism. All churches keep the records of their sacraments. If your church closed, the church that is now there should have the old records. If you do not know the name of the church, you can contact the Archdiocese of that location and request the names of the local churches.

3
Inform the church of your name, your parents' names -- including your mother's maiden name -- and your date of birth. Your first Communion information will be noted on the back of your baptism record because the church where you received first Communion will send the information to the church you were baptized in, according to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
-
4
Give the church where you were baptized your mailing address so it can send a copy of your baptism certificate and first Communion information to you.
-
5
Collect the baptism certificate in the mail and check the back for your first Communion information.
