How to Disable Defrag in Windows 7
Windows 7 is configured to automatically defragment its system hard drives every week. Defragmentation involves heavy disk access and can slow a system that is already heavily strained down to a crawling pace. You can disable the defragmentation schedule in Windows 7 to improve performance. Doing this will require you to manually defragment if your system's disk performance begins to suffer from extensive fragmentation.
