There are many types of cupcake liners available on the market. Paper, silicone and foil are three popular choices, each having their advantages and drawbacks. One of the advantages of using foil liners is that the cupcakes can cook directly on a cookie sheet, unlike the paper liners which must be inserted into a cupcake baking pan. Instructions

      Prepare the cupcake batter according to recipe or package directions.

      Place the foil liners on the cookie sheet, approximately 1/2 inch apart. If the foil liners sit too close to one another, they may end up sticking together during the cooking process. If you prefer, insert a foil liner into each hole in a cupcake pan.

      Fill each liner 2/3 of the way full with the cupcake batter. If you fill the liners too high, the cupcakes will have a large "muffin top" when they finish cooking.

      Bake the cupcakes according to recipe or package directions. Remove the cupcakes when they have finished cooking. Set them aside to cool before decorating or eating.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your foil liners come with paper inserts, remove the inserts before placing the foil liner on the cookie sheet.
