How to Shape Pizza
Pizza is an Italian dish that consists of flat bread, topped usually with tomato sauce, cheese and other optional toppings. Pizzas can come in many shapes and sizes, but they are usually round. You can shape your pizza by simply manipulating the pizza dough with your hands. The largest pizza ever measured a whopping 140 feet across and weighed 44,457 pounds. Sprinkle flour over your work surface. This prevents your pizza dough from sticking to the surface.

Manipulate your pizza dough into a disk shape by pressing hard on your dough using your fingertips and palms. Flip your dough over and repeat this process until it is a thin and fairly evenly round disc.

Pick up your thin disk of dough by gripping different sides between your thumb and first finger. Stretch the dough between your hands then move along the outside of the disk until your dough is evenly stretched. Aim for a thickness between 1/25 and 1/5 inch.

Repair any tears in your dough by squeezing the dough at the point of the tear to close the rip. Your pizza dough should now be thin and disk-shaped, ready for topping and cooking.
