How to Be a Cookie Mom for Girl Scouts

The cookie mom organizes all the cookie sales for a Girl Scout troupe. She also helps to store the cookies, makes sure the cookies get to the right girls and manages the cookie money. Becoming a cookie mom for a troupe is a big responsibility and many new cookie moms do not realize all the work that this position entails. The time that a cookie mom donates to the Girl Scouts while organizing the selling of cookies can vary depending on the size of the troupe and the amount of cookies that it sells.

Instructions

    • 1

Sign up to become a cookie mom by speaking to the troupe's leader. The troupe's leader will register you.

    • 2

Attend a training on how to keep track of the cookies, the cookie money and how to process all the cookie information for the troupe. The troupe's leader will sign you up for the training so consult with her in regard to the time and place.

    • 3

Work as a guest speaker at one of the troupe's meetings and teach the girls about cookie sales, cookie badges and how to bring their cookie information to you. Give the girls all the cookie information that you received at the training as well as the order forms for the cookies.

    • 4

Give the parents of the troupe your contact information so that they can call or email you with questions or concerns. Communication with the girls and their parents is very important during the cookie drive because it helps everyone to be successful.

    • 5

Organize fund raising strategies, cookie selling booths and chart the girls' progress as they attempt to get badges and win prizes.

    • 6

Collect and distribute the cookies when they arrive. This part of the process may involve the whole troupe. The cookie mom will organize where the cookies are stored, how many boxes go to each girl to bring back to the buyers and which boxes of cookies are designated for the booth sales.

    • 7

Organize all the money that the Girl Scouts earn from the cookie sales and deposit it into the troupe's cookie money bank account. Keep a record of the information and present it to the troupe and the troupe leader.
