CO2 tanks must be empty before shipping.

CO2, also known as carbon dioxide, is a colorless gas that is used by the oil industry, the food industry, and the chemical industry. CO2 can be stored in aluminum capsules and several different sizes of tanks. Shipping CO2 tanks, or any other form of compressed gas, involves preparing, identifying and labeling the packages correctly. Here are a few simple steps for shipping CO2 tanks.

Instructions

    • 1

Empty CO2 tanks before packaging for shipment. The tanks must be completely empty to avoid bursting, which can occur at high altitudes.

    • 2

Identify and label the CO2 tank to make sure the shipping company is aware of the contents. If you are unsure of the shipping company's policy for handling compressed gas, contact a service representative for more information.

    • 3

Contact the shipping company to pick-up the CO2 tanks.

    • 4

Ask about restrictions, when shipping packages outside of the continental US.

Tips & Warnings

  • When preparing and shipping a CO2 tank, verify the shipper's standards for hazardous materials.
