How to Fix Focus Problems During Post-Processing of Digital Photos
Discovering a photo is out of focus upon review can be a disappointing discovery. While focus problems can never be 100 percent fixed in post-processing, almost all image processing programs have sharpening effects and tools to correct minor issues. Fixing blurry photos isn't an exact science, so play around with the different effects available until you stumble upon an acceptable solution. The exact filter or tool you can use will depend heavily on your program.

1
Apply an unsharp mask to your photo, which sharpens the edges in your photo. Although it seems like this effect would further blur a photo, it is named "unsharp" because of the technique that was previously used in darkrooms. Adjust attributes like amount, radius and threshold to vary the sharpening.

2
Apply a regular sharpening effect to your photo. This will increase the contrast of those area, resulting in a greater distinction between pixels.
-
-
3
Apply a sharpening effect to only a local region. This can reduce the obviousness of the post-processing.
-
4
Crop out the blurry region of the photo, if possible.
-
5
Alter the color scheme of the image, if possible. For example, some slightly out-of-focus regions in a color photo may become acceptable in black and white.
