Votive candles

Weddings favors are small gifts generally left at each guest's seat at the reception. After the wedding, the favor serves as a reminder of the joy and love shared by everyone at the wedding. Favors can include a monogram with the couple's initials and the wedding date to commemorate the wedding. Stamped glass candle holders are an easy alternative to etched glass favors. The candle favors can also serve as part of the table centerpiece.

Instructions

    • 1

Buy as many frosted candle holders and candles as there are confirmed guests. Ideally, the color of the votive candles should correspond to the wedding colors. For example, if the wedding colors are royal blue and yellow, the votive candles should also be in those colors.

    • 2

Purchase alphabet stamps and white ink pads to create your monogram. If the bride is taking the groom's last name, buy a large stamp of the first letter of the groom's last name, and smaller stamps of the first letter of their first names. Some couples prefer simply to use the first initial of each of their names, while others like to use just the first letter of their last name. Additional stamps may be acquired, such a decorative swirls or geometric shapes, to elaborate on the monogram.

    • 3

Measure the candle holder from top to bottom. Draw a faint dot halfway down the side of the candle holder.

    • 4

Press the stamp firmly onto the ink pad. Find the dot at the halfway point. Place the prepared stamp onto the candle holder and apply pressure. Roll the stamp from left to right to ensure that the image is equally applied to the front of the candle holder.

    • 5

Continue with the additional letters and decorative stamps until the monogram is complete on each candle holder.

    • 6

Allow each candle holder to dry for at least two days before placing the candle into the completed candle holder.

    • 7

Place one completed candle at each seat at the reception.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not rush when applying the stamp to votive holder. To do so risks an uneven application of the stamps or even smudges to the design.
