How to Make Fabric-Covered Picture Boards

A fabric picture board is a decorative and simple way to display snapshots and other pictures in an office, child's bedroom or around the house. You can purchase picture boards at home supply stores, but the fabric options can be limited and the price is usually high. You can make your own fabric board for less money using any combination of fabric, ribbon and embellishments that you desire to make a photo board that matches your decorating style and personality.

Pull the fabric tightly over the back of the cork board. Staple the middle of each side of fabric to the edges of the board. Staple the fabric in place around the cork board, pulling tightly as you go. Fold the corner edges neatly and staple them last. Trim excess fabric when finished.

Flip the board over. Lay the ribbon or rick-rack over the board diagonally. Lay five strips of ribbon from the left and five from the right to make a diamond pattern over the board. Pin the ribbon in place with straight pins.

Wrap the edges of the ribbon around the back of the board and staple in place. Flip the board over. Sew the ribbon to the board where the two layers of ribbon intersect. Sew through the fabric only. Sew buttons or other embellishments over the intersection points if desired.
