How to Make Christmas Ornaments With Corsage Pins
Corsage pins are long, thin pins with decorative tips that lend themselves to many craft applications. Purchase corsage pins in bulk from a wholesale floral or fabric supplier. If corsage pins are too expensive or unavailable, mold polymer clay into decorative pin caps to adorn straight sewing pins -- e.g., roll clay to make smooth pearls, pinch clay for leaves, press against fabric for textured finishes. Insert the head of the needle into your decorative pin cap and bake as directed. The metal may develop a charred finish or tarnish, but this end of the pin will be hidden from view. - Marker
- 10-inch wire
- Decorative paper
- Decoupage paste

Instructions
-
-
1
Draw four lines on the foam ball to divide it into quarters. Start the lines at any point on the ball by drawing an "X." Continue the lines until they intersect on the opposite end of the ball forming another "X."
-
2
Fold the wire in half so that it is U-shaped with a flat base 1/4-inch wide.
-
-
3
Insert the wire into the foam ball at one of the intersections.
-
4
Push the wire through the ball and pull the ends out so that they emerge from the intersection on the opposite side of the ball. Do not trim the ends; this will later be used to hang the ornament.
-
5
Rip squares of decorative paper approximately 1-inch long and 1-inch wide; you can use tissue paper, napkins, comic book pages, wrapping paper.
-
6
Spread a thin coat of decoupage glue on the foam ball. Apply paper to the ball to form a decorative base.
-
7
Bend the wires slightly to form a hook. Hang the ball and allow it to dry overnight.
-
8
Straighten the wires.
-
9
Cut a piece of ribbon 13 inches long.
-
10
Place one end of ribbon on the ball. Tack in place by inserting a corsage pin into the ribbon and foam.
-
11
Wrap the ribbon around the foam, tacking it in place with additional pins every 1 to 2 inches.
-
12
Add additional ribbon by cutting a second piece and overlapping it with the end of the preceding ribbon; the corsage pin will go through the beginning of one ribbon, the end of the other and then into the foam.
-
13
Add ribbon and pins until the desired effect is achieved. Add extra pins without ribbon to enhance the texture and depth of the ornament.
-
14
Twist and bend metal wires to hang. Wrap wires in ribbon and secure with glue to finish the ornament.
