How to Use Your Own Image for an AIM Buddy Icon
AIM is an instant messaging application developed by America Online (AOL). AOL released AIM in 1997 for use on multiple different platforms, including Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, Windows Mobile, iPhone OS, Android OS and BlackBerry OS. Using this application, not only can you chat with your friends, but you can also share files, images and videos with others. AIM also offers a number of customization options to its users.

Open AOL Instant Messenger by clicking the AIM icon on your desktop or accessing it from the Start menu. Sign in using your username and password.

Move the mouse pointer on top of your buddy icon in the upper left corner and click "Edit."

Click "Upload a picture" from the given options. Click "Choose a picture."

Look for a personal image on your computer. Click "Open." You can adjust the image by moving the black square around it.

Click "Save" to set your image as the buddy icon on your AIM account.
