How to Move Favorites From a PC With Mozilla Firefox to a Mac

Mozilla offers versions of its open-source Firefox browser for both Windows and Mac PCs. Although there are some minor differences between the versions, they treat bookmarks -- the generic term for browser "Favorites" -- nearly identically. You can easily import and export bookmarks from either system to the other.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Firefox on the Windows computer. Click the "Firefox" menu, then the arrow next to "Bookmarks." Click "Show All Bookmarks" to bring up the Library window.

    • 2

Click the "Import and Backup" drop-down menu. Choose "Export HTML."

    • 3

Type a filename for the exported Favorites into the dialog box. Click "Browse Folders" to navigate the directory hierarchy and choose a network location or removable storage device to transferring the exported file to the Mac system.

    • 4

Open Firefox on the Mac system. Click the "Bookmarks" menu. Choose "Show All Bookmarks" to open the Library window.

    • 5

Click the rightmost button, which is labeled with a star icon and an arrow. Select "Import HTML" from the drop-down menu. Leave "From an HTML File" selected in the resulting window. Click "Continue."

    • 6

Navigate to the location of the exported HTML file. If the file is on a USB removable drive, insert the drive. If it's on a network drive, connect to the network, if necessary.

    • 7

Click on the HTML Favorites file and press "Enter" or click "Open."
