Let kids put their hand prints on a t-shirt.

Making a hand print shirt is an adorable way to gift a mom, dad or grandparent with a special memento of the little person in their lives. Kids will love getting to put their hands in paint without getting into trouble, and adults will cherish the results for years to come. Their hands will never be this tiny again, so capture the moment on a t-shirt you can keep forever or give as a sweet present.

Instructions

    • 1

Slip a piece of cardboard in between the layers of the t-shirt, to make sure the paint doesn't seep through to the other side. Lie the shirt on a flat work surface, protected by newspapers.

    • 2

Pour paints of various colors on to flat paper plates to make it easier for kids to get a good impression of their hands.

    • 3

Help kids place their hands, flat and palms down, into the paint. Use the paint brush to make sure the paint on their hands is evenly distributed before they place their hands on to the t-shirt.

    • 4

Carefully stamp kids' hands on to the t-shirt. Press each finger down gently to make sure the entire hand print makes it on to the t-shirt. Gently remove the hands from the shirt.

    • 5

Wash the kids' hands and then have them sign their names and write the date with the fabric markers. They can each date their own hand prints, or have a parent do it for them if they are too young to write.

    • 6

Write a sweet message on the t-shirt if you are giving it as a gift, such as "My grandma deserves a hand."
