How to Defragment a File
To defrag a file on your hard drive, you must defrag the entire drive. Windows has an internal disk defrag tool that lets you defrag files on your hard drive without the need to purchase third-party applications. Defragging your hard drive improves performance, so you can speed up the computer using the defrag utility. Defragging places file data side-by-side, so the hard drive needs less time to "search" for files.
