How to Use My Public FTP
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is part of the TCP/IP suite of protocols and is used for transferring files between computers. There are a number of Public FTP sites over the Internet, many of them owned by companies, the government and universities that will allow users to download files and other documents off their servers. Some may require user authentication to obtain access to their files and folders.

Right-click "Start" and click "Explore." The Windows Explorer window opens.

Type "ftp: //mypublicftpaddress/" in the address bar on the top left of Windows Explorer, replacing "mypublicftpaddress" with the actual ftp address you're using. Press "Enter" on your keyboard and the "Log on as" secure login shows.

Put in your FTP username and password, and then click "Log On." Access your FTP files and folders on Public FTP server on the right pane of the explorer window.
