How do I Save a YouTube Video for Free?

YouTube is a free video-hosting website where people upload videos ranging from home movies to share with friends and family, mobile phone videos of wacky stunts, funny footage of their pets or serious reports from unfolding news events. You can also find movie trailers, clips from TV shows and instructional videos on a variety of topics. As of March 2011, YouTube does not support video downloads; but you can save videos to watch again later with or without a YouTube account.

Instructions

  1. Save Videos to Your YouTube Account

    • 1

Go to the YouTube website. Sign in with your username and password.

    • 2

Browse the latest videos that people have uploaded to YouTube, or type a keyword or phrase into the search box to find a video you are interested in. Click a video to start playing it.

    • 3

Click the arrow by the "+ Add To" button below the video, and then click "Favorites," "Queue," "Watch Later" or "New Playlist." If you selected "New Playlist," type a name for the playlist then press the "Enter" on your keyboard. A message will appear, indicating that you saved the video to your playlist.

Click "My Videos and Playlists" to see your list or lists of saved YouTube videos, and then click on one to watch it.

Save Videos Without a YouTube Account

    • 5

Go to the YouTube website and navigate your browser to the YouTube video you wish to save.

    • 6

Create a bookmark by selecting "Add Bookmark" or a similar command (e.g., "Add to Favorites") from your Web browser's menu to save the page link to the YouTube video.

    • 7

Click on the bookmark in your browser to load the video's YouTube page and watch it again.
