How to Get Your Twitter Replies Only on Your iPhone
While there are a number of Twitter apps available for the iPhone, some users may find it distracting to have the entire microblogging service at their fingertips while on the go. If you would only like to be informed when somebody replies to you directly, the quickest way is to configure your Twitter account to send text messages to your iPhone. Twitter provides this service for free, and it can be set up within a matter of minutes.

1
Click the tab with your username in the top right corner of the main Twitter screen. Select "Settings" from the drop-down menu.
-
2
Click the "mobile" tab below the "[username's] settings" header. Add your phone number into the space provided. A text message will be sent to your iPhone to verify that that service is working properly.

Check the "Mentions and replies" box underneath the "Text message notifications:" header. This will direct Twitter to send a text to your iPhone every time you receive a Twitter reply. If you wish to only receive replies from people you know, click the "Only from people I follow" radio button. Uncheck the "Direct Messages" and "Tweets from people you've enabled..." boxes. This will prevent anything other than replies from being sent to your iPhone. Click the blue "Save" button.
