Twitter's GPS tool adds your current location to your feed from your cell.

Twitter is a micro-blogging service that allows users to send short messages, or tweets, to one another on a variety of web-based devices, including cell phones. Sending a public or private Twitter message to someone via cell phone is as simple as sending a text.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a blank text or SMS screen on your cell phone.

    • 2

Type the intended recipient's username by prefacing it with an @ symbol, if you're sending a public message. The username should read: "@twitterusername." Private direct messages should not include the @ symbol. Instead, you must type 'd twitterusername.'

    • 3

Compose the message, keeping in mind that both tweets and direct messages are limited to 140 characters.

    • 4

Send the message to Twitter's text phone number, 40404.

Tips & Warnings

  • Various third-party Twitter applications that use the Twitter API allow you to send Twitter messages and direct messages without sending a text.

  • Don't forget to use "d " before the username instead of the "@" symbol if you wish to send a direct message. Otherwise, the message will go public on your Twitter timeline --- and others will be able to read your private direct message.
