How to Disable AOL Dialer

How to Disable AOL Dialer thumbnail
You can disable the AOL auto-dialer by changing its default settings.

The America Online (AOL) dialer is a function inside the AOL program which, if you turn it on, attempts to establish an Internet connection every time your computer tries to access an Internet resource. Only AOL customers still using a dial-up connection can access the AOL dialer function. While it is not possible to remove the AOL dialer altogether, you can disable it so it doesn't regularly attempt to connect to the Internet.

Instructions

    • 1

Right-click on the "AOL" icon in your Windows taskbar, which is located at the bottom right of your screen.

    • 2

Select the "Connectivity" menu, and then click on "AOL Dialer Settings."

    • 3

Uncheck the checkbox next to the "Start AOL Dialer when I turn on my computer and no connection is detected" option.

    • 4

Click on the "Save" button to confirm your new settings.
