How to Change Internet Explorer Settings From Intranet to Internet Security Settings on Windows 7
Internet Explorer is a Web browser application created by Microsoft for the Windows operating system. Current Web security is a delicate balancing act between flexibility and level of protection. To use the capabilities of the Web browser to their full extent, Web sites need a level of access that leaves you open to security attacks. Internet Explorer allows you to classify Web sites into security zones. You can move a Web site from the Intranet zone to the Internet zone, and change the level of protection for any zone, on Windows 7.

1
Double-click the "Internet Explorer" icon on the desktop. Click "Tools," then "Internet options." Click on the "Security" tab. Internet Explorer displays the security settings dialog.

2
Click on the "Local intranet" icon under "Select a zone." Click on "Sites." Click on the check box next to "Automatically detect intranet network" until a check mark isn't present. Select "Include all local (intranet) sites not listed in other zones," and then click "Advanced," then "Websites." Click on the website you want to move to the Internet, and then click "Close." Then click "OK" twice. The website will no longer be in the Intranet zone; it will be in the Internet zone instead.

The choices, from least secure and most flexible to most secure and least flexible, are "Low," "Medium," "Medium-high" and "High." Click "OK" to save the changes to your settings.
