How to Hail a Taxi in "GTA 4"
"Grand Theft Auto IV" is an action game in which the player can freely wander around a large city, accomplishing missions and obtaining vehicles for faster travel around the city. However, there are other, legal ways of getting around the city, including the subway and taxi cab system. If the player does not wish to break the law by stealing a car, he can hail a cab from the sidewalk and be driven to a desired location.

Begin playing the game and stand along a city street. You can wait for a cab here.

Press the "L1" button on your controller as a taxi approaches you. You will hail the cab, which should pull over next to your location.

Hold the "Triangle" button to enter the passenger's side of the cab. Do not simply press the 'Triangle" button because a press command will make your character try to hijack the taxi.
