How to Check If Any Sites Removed Your Link

Search engines increase your ranking if they view your website as relevant to a specific keyword and a valuable source of information. One factor that affects your site's value is inbound links. It is critical when managing your website marketing efforts that you keep a running tally of how many other site owners link to your website. If you are involved in a link exchange where you agree to place links on your website in exchange for that site owner linking to your site, it is important to make sure the other owner is complying.

Instructions

  1. Search Engine

    • 1

Go to Yahoo!, MSN, HotBot or AltaVista. You will need software to track inbound links to your website on Google.

    • 2

Enter "linkdomain:www.yourwebsitename.com" (exclude the "" and enter your own domain name in place of "yourwebsitename.com") into the search field.

    • 3

Press the "Search" button. All Web pages that link to your website are listed.

    Software

    • 4

Download a software program that tracks inbound links such as Site Automator, Web CEO Desktop or SEO Administrator. Make sure the software or resource you select doesn't just track the number of inbound links, but lists each link.

    • 5

Click on the option in the software to track inbound links for a specific website or Web page.

    • 6

Enter the URL of your website or Web page.

    • 7

View the results of all inbound links. If a specific website isn't listed, the site probably doesn't link to your website.
