2. Check the number of digits in the mobile number you have. Australian mobiles have 10 numbers, and all start with a "0."

3. Pick up the handset of the telephone, and dial "61" first, which is the Australian dialing code. If the mobile number already has a "61" at the beginning, then it's been given to you in the international format and you don't need to add another "61."

4. Drop the "0" from the mobile number, and dial its following nine digits. Wait for the call to connect.
