How to Get Your Site Indexed in MSN thumbnail
Use the Bing webmaster tool to submit a site to MSN.

MSN is a Microsoft branded search engine and Internet service provider. While Microsoft has not completely abandoned the MSN brand, it has been replaced by Microsoft's newest search engine tool, called Bing. If you submit a Web search using the MSN search box, the results come back on a Bing Web page. Therefore, to get your site indexed in MSN you have to submit your site to Bing. There are several ways to do this.

Instructions

  1. Submit Your Site to Bing

    • 1

Go to the "Submit Your Site to Bing" Web page (see Resources).

    • 2

Enter the complete URL of your website's home page in the designated field box.

    • 3

      Complete the CAPTCHA word challenge.

    • 4

Click the "Submit URL" button. The BingBot search engine crawler follows the links on your website's homepage to locate other pages on the site. It is not necessary to submit the URLs of individual Web pages on your site to get them indexed by Bing. Submitting your homepage URL is enough to get the entire site indexed.

Separate each individual URL address by pressing "Enter" so each address appears on its own line. Save the sitemap with the file name "sitemap.txt." Upload the sitemap file to the public directory on your website's server.
