Dry Martini Directions

Dry Martini Directions thumbnail
Serve a dry martini very cold to blend the ingredients well.

Dry martinis are generally served with a single olive in a martini glass. Martini cocktails are made with vermouth and gin. A typical dry martini consists of the liquors mixed at a 1 to 5 ratio because the vermouth complements the gin. The dryness of the drink depends on the amount of vermouth used. A really dry martini will have virtually almost no vermouth. Many varieties of the martini exist such as chocolate martinis, dirty martinis and peach martinis. Does this Spark an idea?

Tips & Warnings

  • Making a stirred not shaken martini consists of pouring the liquors over each other in a chilled martini glass and then the mixtures are stirred. A shaken not stirred martini involves combining the ingredients in a cocktail shaker.

  • Chill the martini glass in the freezer to help keep the drink cold if you are not serving it over ice.

  • Order a martini straight up if you do not want it served with ice.

  • Always wash the lemon peel to remove dirt and debris before you create the zest to add to your martini. Rinsing the lemon under warm water will remove dirt and debris that can cause illness.
