How to Create Fonts for Logos
Creating logos can be a challenge, especially when you are working with a limited selection of fonts. That makes it difficult when you want your logo to stand out from the crowd. With the progression of software understanding and development, however, you can create unique fonts quickly and free of charge. To use the font on your computer, will you need the aid of a program to help compile the many images that are required to create a font.
Instructions

-
1
Download and install a program that can be used to create and organize created fonts (see Resources).
-
2
Create an individual image for each letter of the alphabet. Each letter of your font will have to be created manually. This can be done via an electronic drawing tablet or by hand. The images that are drawn by hand can then be scanned onto the computer and font creator program. When saving the hand-drawn files, save them as bitmap files or in a format that is compatible with your font editing software. If you know you want a letter to have a specific characteristic in the logo -- such as a "Y" with a sweeping tail -- include it in your drawing.

-
3
Compile the images into a single font in the font editing program of your choice. The program will then place a font file into the location you specified when you compiled it.
-
4
Double-click the created font file. The file should automatically install into your computer's selection of fonts. It will now be available in any desktop publishing software on your computer.
-
5
Open the desktop publishing software of your choice. Programs such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Publisher typically work best for creating logos. While these programs can cost a significant amount of money, they usually have a 30-day free trial.
-
6
Select the text or font function on the desktop publishing software. You should see your created font in the available choices for font type.
