How to Make Flat Bread Pizza Dough
Making homemade flatbread dough for pizza requires about 2 ½ hours of preparation time so that the dough can rise. - Dough hook
- Unbleached flour
- Salt
- Mixing bowl
- Water
- Yeast

Add the dough hook onto your stand mixer. Pour 4 cups of unbleached flour into the mixing bowl of your stand mixer. Add 1 tsp. of salt. Mix the ingredients on a low setting with the dough hook.

Heat 1 ½ cups of water until it reaches a warm temperature of about 110 degrees. Pour the water into a bowl. Add ½ tsp. of dry active yeast. Add 2 tbsp. of olive oil. Whisk the mixture and let it stand for five minutes until the yeast dissolves and the mixture foams.

Pour the yeast mixture into the middle of the flour mixture in your stand mixer. Mix the ingredients until a ball of dough forms.

Sprinkle flour onto a clean surface. Place the flatbread ball of dough into the floured surface. Knead all sides of the dough with your knuckles and palms for about five minutes to release air pockets. Add a sprinkle of flour of the dough feels sticky. Continue kneading until the dough offers a smooth consistency.

Oil a bowl. Place the ball of dough in the oiled bowl and cover it with a kitchen towel. Allow the dough to rise for 1 ½ hours at room temperature. Divide the dough into 4 pieces. Place the pieces back in the oiled bowl and allow them to rise for 1/2 hour.

Preheat your oven or to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Roll out each individual piece of dough on a floured surface with a rolling pin to form a rectangular shape about eight inches long and 1/4 inch thick. Put the flatbread dough on an ungreased baking sheet.

Combine 2 tbsp. of olive oil, ¼ tsp. of rosemary, ½ tsp. of minced garlic and salt and pepper in a bowl. Brush the mixture onto the flat bread with a pastry brush. Add tomato sauce, if desired. Add toppings that you desire. Cook your flatbread pizzas for about 10 minutes.
