Andy Warhol is considered a genius by most standards, but he scored an 86 on an IQ test. IQ tests are only a linear way to measure intelligence. You should not compare IQ scores, unless the scores were obtained from the same test. Since most IQ tests are standardized, the average score is 100. At the same time, scores above and below the average are scaled differently. On a Gardner IQ test, 120 is a high average score, which is one classification above average. On a Terman IQ test, 120 is a superior score, which is two classifications above average.

Choose the IQ test that matches your learning style. Terman tests contain verbal, numerical, spatial, reasoning, fluency, and perceptual speed sections. Gardner tests contain linguistic, musical, logical-mathematical, spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, intrapersonal, and interpersonal sections.

Find an IQ testing location. Internet IQ tests provide a free way to evaluate your IQ score. Psychologists provide a more standardized IQ testing method.

Compare your IQ score with the ranges of the test you took. Comparing your IQ score with a different IQ test will not accurately rate your IQ score.

Use the average IQ score to make your judgment. If your IQ score falls above the average score, you have a higher IQ score. If your IQ score falls below the average score, you have a lower IQ score.
