Instructions

    • 1

Keep your bedroom cat-free if you want to continue keeping a cat. Once you remove the dander from the room, be sure to keep your cat out of it.

    • 2

Vacuum all carpeting and upholstery in your home. Use a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter for best results. Be sure to get into corners and crevices, as well, to remove all dander.

    • 3

Clean any linens or fabrics that were exposed to a cat. Wash them in hot water in your washing machine with regular laundry detergent.

    • 4

Use a HEPA filter air cleaner in your home. There are individual room models with filters that can help remove cat dander in a given space, or you can install a whole house system if you plan to keep your cat.

    • 5

Brush your cat outside to help get rid of some of the dander if you want to keep your cat. Brushing on a regular basis can help control dander.

    • 6

Remove additional dander from your cat by wiping down its fur with pet wipes. Wiping and brushing your cat should be a gentle, stress-free process for you and your cat.
