How to Cut a Bird Net in Half
Bird netting is an effective way to keeping birds from eating fruit crops. Birds consume small berries and grapes whole, and damage larger fruits by pecking holes in them. Bird netting can be spread over the plants, preventing birds from accessing the fruits inside it. Bird netting is sold in rolls or packages of specific dimensions. If you know the dimension of the netting, it's easy to cut in half. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

Cutting the Net the Long Way
-
1
Lay one end of the net out on flat ground. If the net is on a roll, unroll around 10 feet. If it's in a package, unfold the entire net.
-
2
Lift one corner and fold it over so it touches the opposite corner.
-
-
3
Grasp the edges of the net, and pull it through your fingers until you reach the crease.
-
4
Cut the first few strands of netting at the crease with a pair of scissors to mark the center of the net.
-
5
Spread the net out on the ground.
-
6
Locate the row of squares you cut to mark the center of the net. Continue the cut, cutting the same row of squares until you reach the end of the net.
-
7
Check that the same row of squares is still in the middle every 10 feet or so. Fold the long edges of the net together. Make adjustments as necessary.
Cutting the Net the Short Way
-
8
Lay the end of the net out on flat ground. If the net is on a roll, unroll about 10 feet. If it's in a package, unfold it all the way.
-
9
Lay your measuring tape alongside the net. If the net is very long, mark the length of the net on both edges at 10- or 15-foot increments using a pen.
-
10
Measure the net to the halfway mark if you know the length of the net. If you don't know the length, you'll need to measure the entire net.
-
11
Locate the marks at the center of the net.
-
12
Pinch the net at the marks to form a crease in the net. Cut along the crease to cut the net in half.

Tips & Warnings
If the net is on a roll and is very long, it helps to have someone roll up the pieces as you cut.
Most bird nets have coated fibers so they won't unravel. If your net doesn't have coated fibers, you'll need to melt the edge of the cuts with a lighter to keep the fibers from coming apart.
