Glazed doughnuts, with their light and airy sweetness, satisfy almost any sweet tooth. Although a trip to the supermarket can send you on your way with a dozen, the doughnuts you make at home can eclipse store-bought varieties. After making batter and deep-frying your sweet confections, use an easy trick to glaze them and finish the cooking project. This recipe glazes two dozen doughnuts. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 4 cups confectioners' (powdered) sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Mixing bowl
  • Wire whisk
  • Small bowl
  • Cooling rack
  • Plastic container with lid

Instructions

    • 1

      Measure the confectioners' sugar, honey, water and vanilla and put into the bowl. Whisk ingredients carefully until glaze looks smooth.

      Pour into the small bowl for glazing.

      Allow doughnuts to cool completely before glazing.

      Hold a doughnut with your fingers. Dip straight down into the glaze to cover the entire top of the doughnut with glaze, pushing to the halfway point between the top and bottom of the doughnut.

      Lift the doughnut out of the glaze and place it on the cooling rack.

      Glaze the remainder of doughnuts using the same technique.

      Leave doughnuts on the cooling rack until glaze hardens completely, about 2 hours.

      Transfer the glazed doughnuts to the plastic container. Store in a single layer.
