How To Put My Picture as My Background On Friendster

The social networking website Friendster uses an open design for users' profiles, which means that you can download and modify the Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) for your profile freely, creating a profile that is your own. Although you may lack the technical expertise to fully modify the CSS for your profile, certain sections of it are simple to change. With one modification, for example, you can configure your Friendster profile to display a new background image.

Instructions

1. Browse to Friendster.com. Enter your user name and password to log in and view your home page.

2. Click the "Profile" link at the top of the page, and then click the "Edit Profile" link under your picture.

3. Click the "Customize" tab at the top of the page.

4. Scroll to the "Advanced Customization" area near the bottom of the page, and click "View CSS." A new window appears and displays the complete style sheet for your Friendster profile.

5. Use the mouse pointer to highlight all of the text in the style sheet. Right-click the highlighted text and select "Copy."

6. Return to the Friendster browser window. Right-click the box under "Customize CSS," and select "Paste." The copied style sheet appears in the box.

7. Locate the "background-image" section of the style sheet near the top of the "Customize CSS" box, and change the URL between the parentheses so that it shows the location of the image that you want to use as a background. The completed line should look like "background-image: URL(http://www.mywebsite.com/myimage.jpg);" when finished. To find the URL of an image in Internet Explorer, right-click the image and select "Properties." Internet Explorer displays the URL in the "Address" section of the window.

8. Click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page. People who view your Friendster profile will begin seeing the new background image immediately.
