How to Freeze Bird Suet
Suet provides a high-energy, protein-rich food for birds during the winter. You can buy packages of suet from stores that sell bird food, or you can make your own. Suet is made out of animal fat mixed with a variety of solid foods such as peanuts or raisins. Suet should not be stored at temperatures over 70 degrees Fahrenheit, since it can go rancid. If you find suet on sale, or you decide to make your own, you can store it for long periods by freezing it for later use.

Refrigerate a block of homemade suet until it has set up and become firm.

Cut the suet into blocks that are the right size for your feeder. Use a pizza cutter or knife to cut it.

Stack the cut blocks of suet on top of one another, with a sheet of waxed paper between each block. The waxed paper will make it easy to separate the suet once it is frozen.

Place the stacks of suet inside a plastic freezer bag and place the bag in the freezer.

Tips & Warnings
Place commercially packaged suet in the freezer while still in the package.
You can also roll suet into a ball, add a wire to hang it from, and place the balls on a plate in the freezer. Once the balls of suet have frozen, put them in a container.
