How to Boil Beef Brisket
Often called the most difficult cut of meat to deal with due to its toughness and often challenging temperament when placing it under dry heats, beef brisket is also one of the most flavourful parts of beef. By boiling beef brisket, moisture is retained in what has commonly been called a 'chef's cut' due to its taste. Though the meat can be temperamental, by simmering it anyone can make a perfect beef brisket in with only patience, a pot and a few ingredients. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Large pot
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 onions, chopped
- 5 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 3 cloves
- 1/2 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper

Place the large pot in the stove at medium-high heat and pour in the olive oil.

Sear the brisket on all sides for 2 minutes each, until browned and crusted. The searing process helps lock in the meat's flavor.

Add enough water to cover the brisket and the rest of the ingredients.

Simmer the beef for 2 to 3 hours.

Remove the pot and take out the beef. Serve it as you wish. Retain the stock for soup or stews.

Tips & Warnings
Always cut brisket across the grain to make it easier to eat.
A variety of other herbs and spices can be added to spice up the dish. Chili powder, chipotle peppers in adobo sauce and cayenne pepper can be added to create a Mexican-themed brisket, while boiling the brisket in diced tomatoes, red wine, and rosemary creates a flavorful Italian-themed dish.
Use corned beef as opposed to plain beef brisket to add more flavor to the dish.
