How to Check What Sites Link to a Domain

When you are running a website, it can be useful to know how many and what kind of other website pages link directly to yours. Search engines use the links pointing to your website as a way to determine your ranking for a particular keyword. The more quality links -- other highly-ranked sites -- pointing to your website, the higher your site will rank in the search results for that keyword. You can monitor the pages pointing to your website by using a special keyword when performing a search on engines such as Google, Bing or Yahoo!.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch your Internet browser and visit your favorite search engine.

    • 2

Type "link:yourdomainname.com" in the search box. Replace "yourdomainname.com" by the actual domain name for which you wish to perform the search.

    • 3

Click on the "Search" button. The search engine will now display a list of all the pages with a link to the domain name you specified in your search query.
