How To Search For an HTML File thumbnail
An HTML file contains code that a Web browser turns into a Web page.

Searching for files on your computer is straightforward with the Windows operating system. At one time, you would have searched in Windows Explorer, but Windows 7 has a much handier search function that makes locating a file simple. HTML is the code used to write Web pages, and you can recognize an HTML file by the extension "htm" or "html."

Instructions

    • 1

      Click the "Start" button.

    • 2

Type "htm" in the search box. Browse the results to find the file you want and click to open the document.

    • 3

Type "html" in the search box. Browse the results to find the file you want and click to open the document.

    • 4

Type the name or partial name of the file in the search box, browse the results to find the file you want and click to open the document.

Tips & Warnings

  • Try searching for "txt," if you can't find the file you want. An HTML file can easily be saved as a text file by mistake.
