Instructions

    • 1

Brush or comb hair to remove tangles.

    • 2

Take a 1-inch section of hair towards the middle of the crown of your head and hold it up. Comb through it to smooth it. Then tease it -- take your comb and move it up and down rapidly, moving towards the scalp. The result with be a cushioned, puffy section of hair.

    • 3

Move on to a second section right behind it. Repeat the teasing. Move on to the next section, until you reach the back of your head. Repeat the teasing for 1-inch sections on each side of your head.

    • 4

Spray some hairspray on this poofed-up part of your hair and allow it to dry.

    • 5

Gather hair into a high, medium or low ponytail and secure with an elastic. If making a part, use the end of a rat-tail comb to maintain the poof. Do not part the teased sections.

    • 6

Use your hands to puff up the teased section and to create an appealing bump. The bump should be located on the crown of your head and should end where your ponytail is located. For a low ponytail, you'll need to tease sections of hair in the back as well.

Run your comb through sections of the ponytail, teasing them towards the elastic to pump up your ponytail. The messier and puffier it looks, the better. Finish off with hairspray, or with a moisturizing spray.
