1
Begin by deciding whether you wish to use an online host or publish your webpage on your own domain. Buy a domain name from an online source and choose a name that represents your company, idea, organization or other enterprise. This will help people recognize your site and help it to show up in search engines.
-
2
Decide the purpose for creating your webpage. If you are setting up a blog, a static site or a site which has elements such as links, articles and FAQ's, your task will naturally be a little more complex.

3
Choose the content so that it has the best impact for those who visit your site. If you have corporate colors or a logo, you can design the page with those elements in mind. With internet provider web design software, you will have a limited choice of templates to choose from if you are simply designing a personal site.
-
4
Select your layout from either the template or within the software you are using. Text is added using either a programming code, such as HTML, or typed into a box, which then gets translated by the software.
-
5
Include keywords in your site which will effectively optimize results from a search engine. This is known as SEO, or search engine optimization. Keywords will help your site place higher up the results list when those words are typed into a search box by users looking for a site similar to your own.

6
Insert attractive colors but do not use too many, or you will dazzle people's eyes. Four colors, maximum, is usually the number to aim for. Use photographs to attract people's interest and, if you need to include graphics or statistics, make them as visually pleasing as possible. Insert them where they will not distract readers, but where readers can view them as well as being able to read the text.
