Instructions

    • 1

Wash and dry the hair thoroughly. Though wet hair can be tied into a ponytail, it may end up looking sloppy once it dries.

    • 2

Add hair gel or mousse to the hair. Place a small amount --nickle size for medium length hair, quarter size for long hair -- into the palm of the hand and work the product from the roots to the ends of the hair.

    • 3

Comb through the hair, removing any snags or knots.

    • 4

Comb the hair back with one hand, while gathering the combed hair in the opposite hand. Grasp the hair at the back of the head and hold tightly.

    • 5

Put the comb down and place a ponytail holder over the fingers, opening the fingers wide to create an "O" shape.

    • 6

Place the side of the "O" against the base of the ponytail and grasp the hair firmly, letting go with the other hand.

    • 7

Pull the hair through the "O". Twist the hair band and create another "O". Pull the ponytail through again. Repeat until the hair is held in place with the hair band.
