How to Delete Addresses in an Address Book

How to Delete Addresses in an Address Book thumbnail
Your digital address book works just like its hard copy cousin.

Email hubs such as Gmail, Yahoo and Microsoft Outlook offer digital address books that allow you to store and organize your friends and coworkers information in the same way a real address book does. Phone numbers, email addresses, birthdays and home addresses are all available at the click of a button, and managing your contacts is just as simple. With a digital address book, deleting contacts like the ex-girlfriend you no longer talk to or the boss you no longer work for is just a few clicks away.

    • 1

Access your Gmail account and click on the "Contacts" tab under "Mail" in the top-left corner.

    • 2

Click on the empty box to the left of the person's name you would like to to delete.

    • 3

Click on the "More Options" button and click on "Delete Contacts."

    • 4

      Access your Yahoo account.

    • 5

Click on the "Contacts" tab located under the "Trash" icon.

    • 6

Click on the box next to the person's name you would like to delete. Click on the "Delete" button.

    Outlook

    • 7

      Open Outlook on your computer.

    • 8

Click on "Contacts" in the Navigation Pane.

    • 9

Right-click the contact folder you wish to remove from your Address Book under "My Contacts" and click "Properties."

    • 10

Click the "Outlook Address Book" tab and click the box labeled "Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book" so that the box is empty.

    • 11

Go back to your Address Book to check that the name is no longer listed. This only removes the contact from your Address Book.
