How to Remove the Watermark From a Word 2010 Document

Word 2010 includes tools to insert multiple types of objects into documents, such as photos, videos or WordArt. You can also add a watermark to your document. This can help authenticate the file, preventing others from using your work as their own. A poorly formatted or positioned watermark can also detract from the overall look of your document. If this has happened to your work, try deleting your watermark to decrease the cluttered and distracting effect.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the Word 2010 document with the unwanted watermark.

    • 2

Click "Page Layout," located above the document pane.

    • 3

Locate the "Page Background" section of the Ribbon and click "Watermark." A list of watermark options will appear below "Watermark."

    • 4

Click the "Remove Watermark" option from the menu. The watermark will be removed from the document.

Tips & Warnings

  • Click the watermark and press "Del" to remove it from your header or footer.

  • Change your watermark by clicking the "Watermark" button and selecting a new watermark from the list. You can also choose "Custom Watermark" to insert your own picture or design.
